The general purpose of this research study is to explore the role of mental health apps during the pandemic and individuals’ experience with using them. The prescreen will ask you questions about whether you have downloaded a mental health app during the pandemic, the names of your app(s), and if you are over 18 years of age or older.

There are no physical, social, or reproductive risks associated with participating in this study. Any psychological risks involved are minimal and do not go beyond what one would typically experience in daily life. With any research study, there is a potential risk for loss of confidentiality and some emails may contain identifying information in them. However, this information is submitted through a secure website that only the research team has access to.

There may be no direct benefit to you; however, by participating in this study, you may help us understand more about the effects mental health apps have on individuals during the pandemic and important factors that cause individuals to download and continue using their apps.

Your response to this prescreen will be kept confidential. We will store the data in a secure computer file and the file will be destroyed once the data has been published. Responses to the main survey are anonymous and no identifiable information will be collected. Additionally, you will have the option of entering your email address into an online raffle for the chance to win a $15 gift card upon completion of the main survey. Personal information (i.e. SSN) may be collected for tax reporting purposes related to compensation for participation in this study. This personal information will not be included with your research data and records will not be used by researchers conducting this study.
